WHO should apply?

We are looking for students entering 11th grade in the fall (or 15-16 years old) that have a strong interest in science, engineering, and math. Preference will be given to low-income, underrepresented, first-generation and college-bound students.  The HAB Academy is free but space is limited so APPLY NOW.

WHO is organizing the High Altitude Balloon Academy?

The HAB Academy is part of the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline program sponsored by NASA and the Washington Space Grant Consortium.  The purpose of the HAB Academy is to inspire students in the region to pursue STEM degrees and to help students prepare for college.  Participants will interact with professors and students from universities around the region.

WHAT is it all about?

Students will plan, build and pre-launch a high altitude balloon. Participants will learn about flight, sensors, payloads, and ballooning through hands-on activities.
